ZOPA is a UK-based peer-to-peer lender. It allows people with excess cash to lend it out to other people. The cash is spread between borrowers to reduce risk of default. The typical RoI ranged between 3.3% ~ 4.8% but is closed to the public as from 2021.

They were the first P2P lender in the UK, but others followed a few years alter. It was created in London by Giles Andrews, James Alexander, Richard Duvall, David Nicholson, Tim Parlett

In 2011 the Peer-to-Peer Finance Association was established, with Zopa as a founding member. Zopa has a yearly get-together in Central London for its investors, lenders and borrowers, so they can all swap business cards.

ZOPA stands for Zone Of Possible Agreement, a negotiating term identifying the bounds within which agreement can be reached between two parties.
